GBV TRAINING FOR PEER EDUCATORS CONDUCTED IN NAIROBI

In the on-going fight against Gender Based Violence, BHESP in February conducted peer educators training for both male and female in Nairobi, the program intends to empower them on fighting gender based violence which is common in Kenya.
According to the GVRC report, 2,532 individuals suffered sexual violence, 422 suffered physical violence between 2012 and 2013. Of these 90 per cent of all reported cases of gender violence were reported by women and girls, 10 per cent by men or boys.
According to the report Women and girls bore the greatest burden of pain and suffering.  More shockingly the report showed that 45% of women between ages 15 – 49 in Kenya have experienced either physical or sexual violence with women and girls accounting for 90% of the gender based violence (GBV), One in five Kenyan women (21%) has experienced sexual violence, 90% off reported perpetrators are men. Sex workers are more prone to gender based violence based on the nature of their work and time of operation.
Change is inevitable, better accept now, just like sex work was not acceptable and its not, so shall be digi-migration
